In Psalm 55, David was experiencing distress because he's been betrayed and he doesn't know how to handle it. Think of how you would feel if someone you loved and thought of as family betrayed you in any way. How would you handle it? How would you feel? Most of us would say "I'd confront them until they told me the truth". David decided to give it to the Father.

David was in so much distress of not knowing how to figure out the situation he said "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wonder off, And remain in the wilderness"(Psalm 55:6-7). Do you know how insane you'd have to feel to want to run away? I have before and I know some of you have felt that way too.

There area so many times when we are going through something and that something is always occupying our mind. From the time we wake up in the morning, to the time we try to go to sleep at night. Sometimes, you can't even sleep simply because your mind is so focused on that something.

So much so that you it interrupts your regular programming. Work, time with your kids, time with your family and even time with your friends. It's constantly on your mind and you're trying to figure out a way to get out of it. It bombards your thought process to the point where sometimes it's impossible to react in ways you normally would.

What we do forget in that time is the essentials that God has told us. Psalm 55:22 says "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved". That thing that you are stewing over constantly, give it to God. Some things are entirely too heavy for us as humans to handle alone. Even when we talk about it to others, we have a hard time removing it from our brains and patterns. Those thoughts become us in one way or another until we get over it.

We can do what David did and give it to the Father. When I say give it to God, I mean truly GIVE it to Him. Lord this is not MY burden anymore. You, the God that created the entire Earth and EVERYTHING in it in 6 days and rested on the seventh; you surely can handle what I can't. You have to believe that God can can take that on for you and genuinely leave it with Him.

David did just that. He let his sorrows fill him and his agony make him cry out but he remembered one thing. He remembered that he can give it to God and that He'd give him peace. He remembered that God would hear his praying and hear his voice and respond with peace that way you may clear your mind of all troubles.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7). Let the Father be your peace and stop worrying about things that He can change in less time than he made the world you live in.
