No In-between

How many times have you felt the need to hide your love for God in the eye of others in the world? Whether its your friends, family or out in public. It may or may not be something you actually want to do but in order to help others feel better, you do it anyways. We think that we can pander to the needs of the world and Jesus will be okay with it. In fact, He isn't "okay" with it at all.

His word says so: Matthew 10:32-33 "Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on Earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in Heaven. But everyone who denies me here on Earth, I will also deny before my Father in Heaven."

Jesus himself is saying, if you are denying me and my Father, I'll do the same to you. It doesn't get anymore clear. Close your eyes and imagine that you get to the Gates of Heaven and God is reading all that you've done in the Book of Life and closes that book. He looks to you and says "I DO NOT KNOW YOU." Imagine the feelings that would overwhelm you in that moment.

In your mind, you try to replay the things that you've done to glorify God. All the praying and praising, helping the needy and being nice to others. Somehow, you have forgotten in those times of being "nice" to others, you've denied God in that time. Time and time again you've managed to shrink Gods value in your life to make everyone else feel good.

Whether people want to believe it or not, that is called being double minded. James 1:7-8 says: "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive ANYTHING from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."

That word anything should let you know God isn't playing around. ANYTHING (pronoun): used to refer to a thing, no matter what. So, God is saying don't even worry about it, no matter what, you won't get anything from Me. Matthew 6:24: "No one can serve two masters, either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

While you devalue Gods importance in your life to make others feel better, take a moment to think about yourself. Are you willing or prepared to hear God tell you that he does NOT know you? Are you willing or prepared to be separated from God for eternity? This is one thing you can control. Decide to choose God.
